My attempts to catch up on the replies to emails was interupted a short while ago by the unforgettable sound of a Merlin engine. I rushed out onto the sundrenched balcony just in time to see the Lancaster from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight circle over the local fields, before it turned and flew above me on its way to its weekend destination.
How I wished my camera was handy; it was a stunning site against the beautiful blue sky!
Just in case you haven't heard about our aviation treasure, I have added a link to take you through to the Museum at RAF Coningsby. I will be able to use it to find out where the Lancaster was heading for with a Spitfire closely behind it.
I've also added a link to the Aviation Heritage Centre at East Kirkby. Another Lancaster is on display there, but it doesn't fly. Many of our guests have been booked in for one of the special trips up and down the runway, and no-one has ever been disappointed with their experience.
