These lovely girls are marvellous at tilling my raised beds from which I recently removed the remains of this year's crop of broad beans. They use their claws to dig a hole - stop - and peck up any minute grubs or worms that they spot wriggling. They seem to enjoy having me watch them undertake this task, for if I move away, they lose interest.

Meet the assistant gardeners and say farewell for now to our two 40's girls
These lovely girls are marvellous at tilling my raised beds from which I recently removed the remains of this year's crop of broad beans. They use their claws to dig a hole - stop - and peck up any minute grubs or worms that they spot wriggling. They seem to enjoy having me watch them undertake this task, for if I move away, they lose interest.
