Last night I watched a repeat of the TV programme "Countryfile" without dozing off this time, so I was delighted to learn more about the decline of Bumble and Honeybees. For the first time I heard about an organisation called the Bumblebee Conservation Trust (BBCT), which I have started to learn a little more about by browsing their website: www.BumblebeeConservation.org.uk
During the past two severe winters about 25% of the Lavendula Angustifolia plants, that previously flourished in the poor soil at the top the flood protection south-facing wall, have died and I am not currently able to afford to replace them, so I am going to try propagating cuttings taken from the remaining bushes, though this may not be easy without the use of a glass house. A few years ago Tony grew a different variety from a packet of seeds that he bought locally, so I will try this method too.
This photo of me was taken last year on the decking outside the kitchen at the end of a happy evening spent in the company of some of the members of the Lincoln Conservation Group.
