My favourite vegetable is a runner bean, so I am particularly pleased to have got the seeds that were left over from last year planted this afternoon. Last week, Reg had prepared a small trench to receive them, which he had lined with the leaves from our "Bocking 14" comphrey plants. The varieties sown today were: Unwins "Scarlet Emperor" and Unwins "White Lady", plus another zig-zag row of Unwins Pea "Douce Provence", as the first sowing haven't materialised at all. I think I'll test the viability of the pea seeds as their sell-by date was 2011.
